Co-op encourages local youth to apply for leadership camp

Do you know a local high school student interested in building leadership skills while having fun this summer? If so, don’t let  them miss out on the opportunity to participate in this year’s Cooperative Leadership Camp.


Each summer, the Cooperative Council of North Carolina’s conducts a week-long, overnight leadership camp for youth at the North Carolina Future Farmers of America Center in White Lake, North Carolina. Open to rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, this camp features energetic and interactive workshops and presentations, outdoor recreation, leadership development, team building activities and small group sessions with an emphasis on how cooperatives operate.

Roanoke Electric Co-op will award one full scholarship to this year’s camp, June 17-21. Applications must be received by Saturday, May 25, and applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be a rising high school sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Be available to attend the entire leadership camp
  • Be willing to participate in training following participation in the camp
  • Demonstrate leadership potential
