Co-op donations bring holiday cheer to local families

Roanoke Electric Co-op employees joined forces recently to make the holiday season a lot brighter for three underprivileged families.

Working  in collaboration with Northampton County’s  Department of Social Services, the co-op donated more than $600 in gifts to the local families with children ranging from ages 3 to 17.

“As we prepare to enter another year as a co-op, our commitment to community is something that remains the same no matter the season,” said Kirby Jordan, vice-president of member services, marketing and public relations for the co-op.

“This is the second time this year that we were fortunate to lend a hand for the holidays,” she added.  The employees kicked off the season of giving by competing in a company food drive, which contributed 1,288 pounds of goods to a local food pantry. “Seeing everyone come together for these worthwhile causes speaks volumes to the core values we stand on as a co-op family.”
