Every year, we take the time to thank our extraordinary lineworkers who dedicate their lives to keeping the lights on in our local communities. Roanoke Electric Cooperative has 14 lineworkers that maintain 2,000+ miles of line in the cooperative’s service territory, and without them, our world would be dark. 

New executive order calls for review of the Clean Power Plan

Throughout the 2016 campaign, Donald Trump pledged to review burdensome federal regulations when he became president. On March 28, President Trump took an important step to follow through on that commitment by signing an executive order to promote energy independence. The order also calls for review of the Clean Power Plan.

Educators: Spark Classroom Engagement with a Bright Ideas Grant!

What’s your Bright Idea? North Carolina’s electric cooperatives, including Roanoke Electric Cooperative, are accepting applications for Bright Ideas education grants for the 2017-18 school year. Teachers in K-12 classrooms with innovative ideas for hands-on learning projects are encouraged to apply for a grant up to $2,000.

Roanoke Electric Cooperative Earns Prestigious Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives’ Service Excellence Four-Star Cooperative Status

Last month Roanoke Electric Cooperative (REC) received national recognition from Touchstone Energy® Cooperatives for earning Service Excellence Four-Star Cooperative status. REC is one of only 17 other electric co-ops across the nation that has earned this prestigious Four-Star Cooperative recognition by completing four employee engagement courses in the Touchstone Energy Service Excellence Program.

Wynn elected to key leadership post

The National Rural Electric Cooperative Association has elected Roanoke Electric Co-op CEO Curtis Wynn as vice-president of its board of directors.
