Straight Talk Community Forum

The 2017 series of Straight Talk Forums have come to an end.  Over the course of this year, we have hosted forums throughout Hertford, Northampton, Halifax, Gates, and Bertie Counties.  These forums served as an opportunity for us to get in front of more than 300 member-owners to have one-on-one conversations about their service. 

 

We would like to thank each of our member-owners for their feedback.  It is your feedback that helps us fulfill our mission to provide our region with safe, reliable and affordable electricity while enhancing the quality of life in the diverse communities we serve.

Last week, NOAA warned of an “extremely active” Atlantic hurricane season, with 2-5 major hurricanes now in the forecast.

With this in mind, Roanoke Electric Co-op officials are emphasizing the importance of having hurricane preparedness plans in place. North Carolina sits on the Atlantic coast, and when hurricanes hit the region they often bring with them flooding, power loss and wind-damage.

The Roanoke Electric Care Trust board recently awarded grants to five community groups, as part of the co-op’s Operation RoundUp program. Third quarter grants totaled $10,111.25 and were presented to the following organizations:
