Operation RoundUp

Operation Round-Up is a grant program where our member-owners' "spare change" is awarded to non-profit organizations to make "big change" in our service area. When our member-owners choose to round up their electric bills to the next highest even dollar, their combined contributions go to the program. Find out how your non-profit organization can apply or how member-owners can request to contribute today.

 

Educational Programs

We care about our communities! Need a presenter for a school or civic organization event? Co-op employees are available to present a variety of programs that educate youth on electrical saftey, energy conservation, and other topics. You can schedule a visit.

 

Cooperative Leadership Camp

What's a cooperative anyway? This fun and exciting leadership conference and camp provides opportunities for local cooperative youth to learn more about the cooperative form of business and its principles. It is held each year at the FFA Camp in White Lake, North Carolina.

 

Roanoke Electric Cooperative Scholarship

Need $1,000 for college? Your cooperative grants a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving youth in its service area to further his/her education beyond high school. The student must be enrolled in an accredited four-year institution. It's easy to apply!

 

Rural Electric Youth Tour

Are you a high school junior? Join more than 1,000 students across the nation for an exciting week-long trip to our nation's capital this summer.  The Youth Tour provides opportunities for local cooperative youth to learn more about rural electrification and the inner workings of the federal government. You don't want to miss this!

 

Bright Ideas Grant Program

Are you an educator who has a great idea to improve your classroom curriculum but just don't have the funding to do it? Our Bright Ideas Program helps all area teaching personnel produce a highly educated and trained workforce by offering endowments to inititatives introduced by teachers that are not covered by traditional school funding.

Last week, NOAA warned of an “extremely active” Atlantic hurricane season, with 2-5 major hurricanes now in the forecast.

With this in mind, Roanoke Electric Co-op officials are emphasizing the importance of having hurricane preparedness plans in place. North Carolina sits on the Atlantic coast, and when hurricanes hit the region they often bring with them flooding, power loss and wind-damage.

The Roanoke Electric Care Trust board recently awarded grants to five community groups, as part of the co-op’s Operation RoundUp program. Third quarter grants totaled $10,111.25 and were presented to the following organizations:
